TESTING MAKEUP NO. 7 Kat Von D Shade+light Eye Contour Quad #plum

This blogpost is on my writing list for a long while, however it has been delayed again and again. Kat Von D’s  products are available in Sephora in years. Her makeup products are so much like her personal style, bold, romantic with a little dark side.

This TESTING MAKEUP is focused on the Shade+light contour eye quad launched in 2016. The colour I own is plum. I bought it last year after swatching it in Sephora. This eyeshadow quad is completely matte, and supposed to give your eyes  a good contour to emphasise eye shape with beautiful silky texture. The reason I chose this shade is because that personally I love mauve or plum shade eyeshadows. The other shade of this range are also stunning, their colour match are so talented.

Let’s jump into swatches.

Swatches on my arm:

On my eyes:

This is an easy application method according to the instruction. I started with the left shade as a base and the second right shade to enhance my eye socket.  Then followed by a good but easy blending in the out corner of my eyes. Lastly put the right highlighter shade on my browbone and just above my eyeballs. A quick tip for this process: prepare an extra clean eyeshadow brush to correct the edge of the eyeshadow to give it a more natural and well-distributed.

Reviews & thoughts

I barely use all matte eyeshadows and even don’t have a full matte eyeshadow palette. This Kat Von D

quad is perhaps my first full matte eyeshadow palette, which I highly recommend.

Firstly the colour texture is exquisite and blends quite easily.  Secondly it has the general advantage of American or European brands, unlike the Japanese sheer and shimmer style, the colour is highly pigmented. Lastly it is super long lasting. With an eyeshadow primer it wouldn’t crease in my hooded eyelids. The colour could stay fresh all day long easily.

There is a detailed instruction in the packaging with a lot of pictures. But I’ve lost it since got it for so long. Another detail of this eyeshadow quad is that the darkest shade is the hardest one to grab colours. Touch it with fingers I could feel that darker shade are squeezed tighter than the lighter shades, which in my opinion, is quite thoughtful for the brush dipping in without grab a larger amount of products that you normally need.

In a word, this eyeshadow quad is high quality, worth for its price, easy to use for everyday or special occasion makeup.
